Well I took a week off and I haven’t measured my weight since. I had a great holiday. We walked lots and cooked fresh fish from the fish market. I managed to get some writing done and take a break. This week I’m back at work and I attended a conference in Brussels. Unfortunately it was a carb fest. And as with most conferences I go to, I had a few drinks.

You may recall the lovely Petunia who is my diet buddy. She’s actually done quite well on her diet since I last mentioned her in dispatches. But she organised the conference. And when the event involves Petunia, it usually involves Chateau Thames Embankment. In vast quantities. I switched to gin and tonic early. At the cocktail bar they only had one measure, so I ended up with a gin and tonic and hint of Cointreau. This is not necessarily a new favourite of mine.

Next week I will attempt to get back to normal. I have another holiday planned in August and after that I will quit booze for a bit. It is my Achilles heel. A couple of glasses of wine in the evening stops the weight loss.

Don’t expect any statistics until at least next week. I’ve not measured anything, but I will start again this weekend.
