Failure to Avoid Seed Oil.
One of my rules this year is to avoid seed oils. I’ve done this to date by cooking in butter, lard and tallow. Sometimes I use olive oil. Unfortunately, yesterday I forgot to check. I had horseradish sauce yesterday and it contains rapeseed oil. Oh dear.
What’s worse is it contains sugar and glucose-fructose syrup as a preservative.
It’s possible to get mustard without sugar, but other sauces are more difficult to find. From now on, I will be making my own horseradish sauce. The recipes out there seem to intersect on horseradish, mustard powder, salt and cream.
