Ketosis strips.
I used to get up in the morning and take a ketosis reading. More often than not, the reading would not be particularly high. This morning, I took a reading. Not surprisingly, I’m in ketosis.
Ketosis usually means that your body does not have much readily available glucose. Your body is burning its fat reserves. It’s a good indicator that a low-carb or fasting regime is working.
But of course, there are things that can affect the reading. You place the strip in urine, so it is measuring the concentration of ketones in your urine. I’m not an expert, but I guess if you were over-hydrated the reading would be lower than expected. So, it can only be used as an indicator.
The best way to track weight loss is with the scales and preferably scales that measure your fat content. Most modern scales that do this are quite accurate. Years ago, I got my personal trainer to do manual readings, and they matched the scale’s readings. You want your fat weight to decline.
So, I’m giving up on ketosis strips. They are expensive and don’t add much to the process, other than an observatory reading. Their shelf life is low, and they go off quickly.
