I’m in Switzerland visiting headquarters. I’m staying in a self-catering apartment to keep the cost down. But the idea of self-catering isn’t one I like this morning, so I went out to seek a low-carb breakfast quite early.

The opening hours in Switzerland are not necessarily convenient for travellers. At 6am, the only places open are at the train station. As I walked through Zug station this morning at 6, I was overwhelmed with the smell of baked goods. The smell was rather nice. Even the small pretzel and sandwich shop bakes its own bread.

Anyway, I managed to find something in the Coop. They sell salads without dressings and so this morning I’m having a Tuna Nicoise salad. In case you don’t know how difficult it is to be low carb, here is some beef I bought.

Even this has sugar in it and I’m not talking about the sauce. Sugar is used to cook processed meat. I ate it anyway but it is not idea.

Then in case you don’t know how difficult it is to avoid seed oils… yesterday I bought some hummus. It was supposed to be a good quality one, but unfortunately had seed oil in it. Seed oil is very difficult to avoid. But when I’m travelling, I have to make sacrifices and accept that I can only do my best.
