I gave up my one meal a day regime at Easter. I had two Easters and took time off dieting. There was no noticeable damage. But now I’m flatlining.

I’m on two meals a day (low carb) except Saturday where I do what I want. I’ve reintroduced alcohol into the mix. And here are the problems. I need to be more careful with the two meals. On a one meal a day diet you can almost eat as much as you want. On a two-meal diet, this can tip the balance. And alcohol is a domino item - one glass can lead to another.

Here are the statistics and you can see it’s not a good story. Last Monday I broke the diet.

The good news is that my lower waist is below 36” this morning. The bad news is it might be time to buy new clothes… and I spent rather a lot at Christmas on new trousers. First world problems.

In the week ahead, I will be socialising. On Thursday I have a conference and on Friday, I’m at Lords. All very civilised of course. But there will be carbs and wine there. After bank holiday, I need to knuckle down again. I’m considering going back on one meal a day.
